Insults
« on: September 02, 2016, 06:46:09 pm »
Hi Pepperminteers, how's it going?  This is only for a bit of fun.  Here's how to give your computer added attitude - albeit a bad one >:D .  With this tweak, your computer will respond with an insult, (child and mother-in-law friendly  ;)) when a wrong password is entered into the terminal  :D.

First let's back up the /etc/sudoers file.  Open a terminal window with the following keystrokes: Ctrl+Alt+t.  Copy and paste the following command into the terminal and hit Enter/Return.
Code: [Select]
sudo cp -v /etc/sudoers /etc/sudoers.bak
Follow the on screen instructions.

Continue with the instructions, by copying and pasting the following command into the terminal window:

Note: Users of Peppermint Five & Peppermint Six. You'll need to replace pluma with gedit, or your prefered text editor.
Code: [Select]
sudo pluma /etc/sudoers
Hit Enter/Return and follow the on screen instructions.  In the file that opens, find the lines:
Code: [Select]
Defaults	env_reset
Defaults mail_badpass
Defaults secure_path="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/snap/bin"
Add the following line:
Code: [Select]
Defaults	insults
so it now looks like this:
Code: [Select]
Defaults	env_reset
Defaults mail_badpass
Defaults insults
Defaults secure_path="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/snap/bin"
You can use the tab key to create the long space if necessary.  Save the file with the following keystrokes: Ctrl+Alt+s.  Exit the text editor with the following keystrokes: Ctrl+Alt+q.  The next time you use: sudo, you'll be ready to be used and abused  :)).
