If switching to the nvidia (361.42) driver didn't help, I doubt if the 367.44 one will

does it eventually work if you keep trying .. as in this bug report ?
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxsession/+bug/1534798

and does
Code: [Select]
lxsession-logout(as opposed to peppermint-logout) work ?

I tried what he did in terminal but it did not appear on the screen after 10 attempts.

Quote
As temporary solution I run lxsession-logout in terminal emulator for immediatly terminate program with Ctrl+C, when it didn't appear, and try again. After several repeats it appears on the screen.

I installed Peppermint 7 for the first time yesterday and its always happened.

Same behavior in the LiveUSB. I used Rufus to make it.

Interesting thing  is the PIA program worked properly for a while, then it caught whatever lxsession-logout has.

Hi Darclar
You may need to try and install it again now that you have different UEFI settings. Assuming you kept them.
It's at least worth looking at the Live USB again

Thanks Zeb, I was thinking that too. However I tried the Live USB before my last post and got the same behavior. Anyhoo, I will try another reinstall if nothing else works out.

Hi Darclar
You may need to try and install it again now that you have different UEFI settings.

Don't know if it will make any difference, but ...

When I first installed Peppermint 7 in UEFI/Secure Boot mode, everything worked.

But, as soon as I started haxoring it, adding Conky 1.10.x with all the various depends, et cetera, Secure Boot started causing probs.  I disabled Secure Boot and Legacy ROM in BIOS, e.g. all I'm running now is UEFI mode.

Everything (Peppermint 7, Ubu 16.10, winders 10) is working fine.

If it was me, I'd do a fresh Torrent download, too.

Maybe your iso is corrupt.

I followed the instructions on Checking the Integrity of the Image, so the iso is definitely good.

Can you test a Lubuntu 16.04 LiveUSB and see if that does it too ?
