Sound mute-un-mute fonction (nitpicking ...) (SOLVED)
« on: August 21, 2016, 01:05:49 pm »
Ok this is a small one but so far I am unable to fault PM7. Great implementation of 16.04. Ok I have a Logitech K360 keyboard with a few audio control keys. Works beautifully. The only thing is the keyboard mute fonction. While the mute works, it cannot be restored with the KB again. A second press on the button should remove the muting. I have to remove it with the control applet.

It is not something with the keyboard but more with the implementation. I have the same KB on my main Mint Kde 17.3 rig and the button behave correctly (mute/unmute). So does in Windows.

Try this .. run:
Code: [Select]
sudo pluma /etc/asound.confwhen a BLANK file opens, make it read
Code: [Select]
pcm.pulse {
    type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
    type pulse
}
pcm.!default {
    type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
    type pulse
}
SAVE the file and exit pluma

Now REBOOT

test your mute key now toggles mute/unmute

This has been an issue for my keyboard as well (from Peppermints 5-7 as I can remember). Although, I am using an old iMac keyboard  :P

Why can't this conf come packaged with Peppermint? Would it break other keyboards mutes?

I doubt if it would break anything .. I'll consider putting it in the next respin (after some testing of course).
