found this tutorial a while back and have used it in the past to fix grub issues, hope it helps. replace sda1 with whatever partition peppermint is installed to

If grub is now broken, boot back to the LiveUSB/LiveDVD and run these commands in sequence:


sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt

for i in /dev /dev/pts /proc /sys /run; do sudo mount -B $i /mnt$i; done

sudo chroot /mnt

grub-install /dev/sda

update-grub

Then hit Ctrl+D to exit the chroot environment.

and finally reboot without the LiveUSB/LiveDVD

Thanks Rayzer, I just got the Live-cd at my friends house and was able to get it working again with that tutorial - like a charm  :)
