Hi,

I want to know what commands are used in Ubuntu for chkconfig and yum groupinstall.

Syntax example

Code: [Select]
chkconfig --level35 nfsserver off
Code: [Select]
yum groupinstall 'DNS Name Server'
I request you please share anybody knows about it.

Regards,

Hi rajeev2631007,

I have not found specifically what you are looking for, but perhaps these two resources may help you:

[T]here are a lot of people happily running Peppermint ICE which hasn't been receiving ANY updates for a while now .. and I personally would STILL consider that MUCH more secure than any version of Windows with up-to-date AV/Anti-malware ;)

In Debian package management, there are 2 equivalent of "groupinstall" .. both require pre-built scripts to work

a) metapackages - metapackages don't contain any software themselves, they pull in other packages as dependencies .. the peppermint 'packs' are examples of metapackages, as is the build-essential package.

b) tasksel - tasksel is an ncurses terminal GUI for installing certain groupes software such as LAMP (be careful with tasksel, it's aimed more at the server edition)

I suppose the chkconfig equivalent to add/remove scripts to runlevels would be "update-rc.d"

see:
Code: [Select]
man update-rc.d
WARNING: You are logged into reality as 'root' .. logging in as 'insane' is the only safe option.
