(SOLVED) Apps will not uninstall (SOLVED)
« on: July 28, 2016, 03:07:21 pm »
The first thing I do when I install a new version of Linux is to uninstall unwanted apps and install other software I find useful.
In Peppermint Linux that would be all the games installed by default as well as all the google apps and whatever office apps I can find.

The problem I am having is that the software manager cant find them so I can uninstall them.
I figured maybe I am just unfamiliar with the software manager.
So I used the synaptic package manager which I am very familiar with.  It cant find them either.
I know they are there because I ran them. Why are they not showing up in the software manager or synaptic so I can remove them? Do I need to reinstall peppermint?

The games are ICE apps, they run in a browser so they're not actually installed; same goes for Google apps. I don't think office apps are installed by default.

That's one of the beauties of Peppermint Linux OS.  It isn't loaded with a bunch of native apps, e.g. cruft to uninstall.    ;)

Hi Rusty,

You might want to read the online User's Guide and in particular Chapter 5 (which explains what the ICE application is and tells you about site specific browsers.  ;)

Thank you.
You are right. I am not familiar with the "ICE" feature in peppermint.
I usually install a new version of Linux every couple of weeks and I have been through dozens.  Most are very similar.  Peppermint is one of the better ones.
I have not came across the ICE  feature before.
I will consider this problem solved. Thanks.

Hi Rusty Shakelford, and welcome to the forum :)

As has been said, the games are just SSB's (think of them as web shortcuts that open in their own web browser window without all the toolbars/tabs) not installed applications .. but if you want to remove them, simply start up ICE, select the "Remove" tab, highlight the SSB you want to remove, and click the "Remove" button.
