I feel the same with Linux Mint and Fedora.
Yes, Peppermint OS is my go-to for everything I need in computing. +1
To be honest, I prefer anything
not running Gnome 3. I find Xubuntu to be a much more enjoyable vanilla -untu experience than Ubuntu. Again, I prefer the XFCE release of Mint over the Cinnamon or MATE releases. Though, I've never really cared for Cinnamon. And MATE, while it has the look and feel of Gnome 2, is still Gnome 3 underneath, as is Cinnamon. I'm just not a fan of Gnome 3. It's a buggy piece of crap, in my opinion. I have a feeling it's one of the reasons so many people have issues with Ubuntu and Mint.
One of the things that irks me about Mint is how they handle everything "in house." With only so much server room and bandwidth, they always prioritize their Cinnamon and MATE releases which, as I said, I think are actually the worst ones because of Gnome 3. Their XFCE Beta doesn't even release until the final Cinnamon and MATE releases have been out a while. Then, their KDE release follows whenever they get around to it. If I remember correctly, their 17.X release got a 17.1 release for Cinnamon and MATE (possible even for XFCE) before they even released a single Mint 17 KDE .iso. It's irksome if you like the KDE release to have to wait for everything else and even updated releases before you can even update to the latest version. To me, this makes them a less than ideal OS anyway. If you split things up to different groups (and servers) and release simultaneously, like Ubuntu and Fedora do, then you're pleasing everyone at once. Otherwise, it's best to focus on a single desktop environment like Peppermint and many other distros do.
