PM7 icons [SOLVED]
« on: July 09, 2016, 04:20:57 am »
Firstly, congratulations on the BEST ever Peppermint Distro PM7, well impressed!  :)
Obviously hard work by the 'Team' is being appreciated and promoted where it belongs.
Rated hits number 12 on Distrowatch over the last 30 days!

I have a question regarding icons/ system icon changing.
Previously on PM5, I could right click menu items and change icons for system and applications, it doesn't seem possible to do this now  :(
Is there a way to do this?
Reason I ask is, I have my own custom icons that I am used to using in PM5 and wish to use in PM7.

yes, I have icon OCD and prefer uniform icon sets across my network  ;D

help appreciated..

Hi acer, it's good to know you like PM7 - it's a real gem  ;).  Changing the desktop icons is really easy.  Try this thread: Change desktop icons  ;).

Okay, changing the application icons would be fairly simple .. just edit the .desktop file(s) at

/usr/share/applications
or
~/.local/share/applications

in a text editor such as pluma and change the "Icon=" line to point at your custom icon.

If you want us to walk you through an example, please mention the application you'd like to change, and the path to your custom icon.

Changing menu "category" icons is a bit harder, but we'll get to that if it's what you want to do ?
