Okay let's see if fixing those kde unknown mimetypes helps

We could be here all week trying to figure this out because it's saying you have broken packages but you don't (that I can see)

How about just installing the Lubuntu Software Center instead ?

I appreciate the help, you went above and beyond. I've now installed Peppermint 7 and its running great. It was easier to install Peppermint 7 than fix this.

Seems indeed difficult...  :-\

We were able to fix it on my systems but were never able to pinpoint the real package that solved it!
Removing the NVIDIA thing and installing wine+winetricks made everything working (again) for me but what package exactly fixed it is still not clear...
