I almost never print anymore. I noticed that TOS on Youtube struggled with his wireless printer using Manjaro.  I had no problems setting up my printer with Manjaro ... probably dumb luck. I may sit down with my Peppermint this weekend and try to connect it to the printer. Hey Devs! Any hints about the future Peppermint? I'm really liking what I see with Manjaro LXQT. Should I wait for the new Peppermint?

Will Peppermint 7 ( Ubuntu 16.04 Kernel ?) Support Atom motherboard and better and improve touch screen performance?

I came to know these features depends on Kernel version is it true?

Hi Rajeev. Which Atom devices do you want to use, and what do you want to do with them? I've done some experiments in this area recently and my main piece of advice would be: if you want to run Linux on an Atom device, find one with Ubuntu pre-installed on it (they do exist).

The kernel is the deal-breaker with these things and it has to be customised quite a bit. One of the people who's done some of the best work in this area is Linuxium, his website is at http://www.linuxium.com.au/

The rumour is that Intel were persuaded by Microsoft to make the Atoms difficult to use any other operating system than Windows on. I've no way of verifying this (except that the result was exactly that)...

So... Anyway... Peppermint 7!

I'm hoping for a bit more customisation. That's about it!

Do you  mean customisation "options", or customised "out of the box" ?

and if the latter, what would you like to see customised ?

Out of the box, themes and wallpapers.

Ahh right .. well the RC is aready built and under testing so there's effectively a feature freeze in place .. so I guess you'll just have to wait and see what we already have :)

Excited for the release of PM7! Would like to see better hardware support for my older business class laptop (particularly the sound buttons don't work correctly). And of course I am looking forward to having the latest version of Ubuntu and Linux Kernel as backend  :)

Have you tried this:
Try this .. run:
Code: [Select]
sudo gedit /etc/asound.conf
when a BLANK file opens, make it read
Code: [Select]
pcm.pulse {
    type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
    type pulse
}
pcm.!default {
    type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
    type pulse
}
SAVE the file and exit gedit

log off/on (or reboot)

test your mute key now toggles mute/unmute
?

Peppermint 7 Launch Day

Hi Peppermint Nation .. Team Peppermint would like to announce a preliminary launch date of the 30th of June for Peppermint 7.

Please be aware that this is currently only a 'pencilled in' date, if any new bugs come to light, etc. the release may be pushed back until they are fixed. That said, the private beta test hasn't brought up any show stoppers so far, so fingers crossed.
