NOTICE - THIS FORUM NOW HAS SSL
« on: April 07, 2016, 07:22:52 pm »
This forum now supports secure connections (SSL), so it would be a good idea to update any bookmarks you have to use the SSL enabled site

eg. .. change your bookmarks from the old URL
http://forum.peppermintos.com

to the new secure URL
https://forum.peppermintos.com

In fact ALL the Peppermint websites now support SSL
(although I still have a few links to fix on peppermintos.com where wordpress refers to some non SSL links to images)

Thank you, PCNetSpec. It's great to have a more secure forum. :)

By the way, you put the Flash to shame. That was very, very fast! ;)

P.S.

I see what you mean, update our browser's bookmark, or favorite, for Peppermint forum. It's that simple. Sorry, for the earlier question. I was thinking of all the earlier bookmarks that I've saved in Peppermint from before. Those were NOT the bookmarks to which you were referring!

I know you guys have a lot on your plates, but the bookmark on the main page needs to be updated when you have a chance. It still takes you to the regular version, not the SSL version.

Hm, Google Chrome on my phone doesn't appear to like the change. It gives me a big "Your connection is not private" message.

new link does not work for me it pops up an invalid certificate warning box and goes to an empty tab...
also the site is still displaying like a text file in firefox... :(

this is what i get going to the link https://forum.peppermintos.com

forum.peppermintos.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.
The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates.
An additional root certificate may need to be imported.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

I think PCNetSpec must have patched it.

The cipher suite being used here (now) is the same as the one being reported on DuckDuckGo.com (for instance) ...

If you're still getting that, your DNS hasn't caught up yet (because that was the message you got from the old server when trying SSL) so your web browser is still being pointed at the old server .. try switching to the google DNS servers.

Either that or your ISP uses some weird web caching algorithm .. in which case you'll just have to wait, though the fact that I've just switched off the old server might force them to dump the cached content a little quicker.

I noticed, this morning, going into Peppermint Linux OS's Official Site from Manjaro, in the standard DuckDuckGo search engine from Opera, I did not enter into Peppermint's new secure site.

This problem doesn't occur here, but it does occur using DuckDuckGo, in Opera, in Manjaro.

Yes,I know the moral of the story: Don't use Manjaro! ;D

perknh, if you didn't manually accept the cert in manjaro .. please try again now, and let me know if it works.

You are learning, young grasshopper! :))

Actually, I'm kidding. There's no reason to not use any Linux distribution, as Linux is about freedom of choice. :)

All Peppermint non-SSL websites now set to redirect to the SSL enabled ones .. so now there's no need to change bookmarks, and clicking on any old links from search engines/forums/etc. will still end up with you on the secure sites.

In fact you should always end up on the secure sites .. try these links
