OpenVPN issues
« on: December 15, 2016, 11:43:52 pm »
Hey guys, I have configured OpenVPN to run PIA, I am able to connect to different servers; however, I can't resolve the host.  I tried different DNS addresses provided to me by PIA, still no luck.  I disabled the firewall as well.  Not sure what the problem is or how to diagnose it.  I am new to Peppermint OS, but I have used Mint and Kali.  I encountered the same problem on Mint Sarah as well.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi dknydisdkny and welcome to the Peppermint forum!  :)

Do you use plain OpenVPN, the Network Manager or the PIA application?

As PIA is subscription only (I think ?) it would be hard for anyone without a subscription to reproduce the issue for testing.

But does this help:-

Thanks for the help guys.  It looks to be that the entire problem was centered around full disk encryption.  I know it seems ridiculous, but I heard someone mention it before, and wouldn't you know it, he was correct.  Very odd.

For my own info... Do you use the  PIA application? And if so, does it has a working "kill switch" when the VPN drops?

Thanks for your answer!  ;)
