Windows 10 installation
« on: March 31, 2016, 04:02:27 pm »
I've having my first experience with Windows 10.  My stepson in installing the 32-bit version to my wife's tower.  It's been around an hour and half and the computer sounds like a WW2 fighter aircraft taking off; so something's happening.   I think the longest Peppermint Six has taken to install on any of my laptops is 15 mins, give or take a minute.  That's ready to be used too.   Honestly, this installation is some performance  ;D.    I'm really curious to see how long this is going to take  :-\.

i did an upgrade to ten on a guys win 7 laptop, and it took about two hours before it was done... I can honestly say I hate windows 10, once it was installed and booted up i refused to go any further, i gave it back to the guy to install all the programs on it, because i hated it that much...    :o

LOL
Telemetry and other data gathering doesn't come easy!  :D

I have some experience with it in VirtualBox... Six months as a M$ Insider and three months as a "Retail" user.
After thoroughly investigating all the connections it made I deleted the VM...  :-X

Hi Andy

Just out of curiosity did your stepson read the EULA before clicking the "I Agree" button ?

From what I understand Microsoft are being quite up front about all the spyware they've installed in Windows 10 in the EULA so I'm just curious why anyone who reads it and understands it would agree to it

If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs then you're not quite grasping the situation

Oh yes, he's fully aware he's signed his mother's life away  ;D.  Yeah, he's au fait with of all the, goony goo goo BS M$ have piled into it.  It's really appalling what they expect you to accept without blinking an eye  >:(.

It's not too late.  You can still abort the install and put Peppermint on the computer.  Come towards the light.

Yes, M$ is up front about the data gathering.  I read the EULA on my XBOX 360.  It's all spelled out.
