The Text, text editor app.
« on: May 21, 2014, 02:16:56 am »
Good morning Peppermint faithful.  Yesterday, while I was taking a break from taming the garden.  I took a better look at the Chrome/Chromium Webstore.  I came across a sweet little app simply called, Text.  It is a simple cloud text editor.  I tried it, and it works  :o.   I'm sure it has its limitations, the first one being it can't be, or more to the point.  I have no idea how to open this from the terminal  :-\.  For doing simple editing though or, if you just want a light text editor open for quick access.  This could be an ideal option.  I made an SSB of it with "Ice".  It even politely provides an icon.  I placed it in Accessories so it is with the Text Editor. It will also show up in Chromium Apps by default.  If anyone is interested,  just go to the Chrome Web Store and search for Text and follow the instructions.

Text being cloud-centric is very Peppermint too  ;)!!

Nice find, but I wouldn't replace gedit (or specially nano) with it .. you never know when you'll need an offline text editor to fix a problem (say with networking) ;)

I think it's fantastic what's been happening with cloud based IDEs over the past few years. Project collaboration has become much easier and the cloud based nature of it takes away the dependence on a single machine. I think text editor web applications are interesting, but I haven't found a reason to use one over a locally installed text editor.
