Hmm I haven't seen that one before. Any chance you're logged in as root in another active application and therefore locked out?

Hi alynur,

I too have never seen this problem. One suggestion, however: try moving the indicated file out of the directory and see if Synaptic starts without errors. Do this in a terminal window (replace /home/alynur/ with your actual home directory name):

Code: [Select]
sudo mv /var/lib/apt/lists/downloads.sourceforge.net_project_ubuntuzilla_mozilla_apt_dists_all_main_i18n_Translation-en /home/alynur/

Hi Slim.Fatz, okay I did this as you suggested changing the /alynur/ to /albert/ and still a no go. The same error message comes up when I try to log into Snaptic Manager. Thanks for the try though.

Hi alynur,

You can now delete the moved directory (in case you have not already done so). I know that it does not take up much storage space, but I guess I am just a fanatic for keeping installations clean and free from junk.  ::) :P
