Sorry to report the new xorg.conf did not work. I tried it twice and I forgot to save the original. I can say that copying the the text from that thread and seeing some of my original file as I manually deleted it, they looked very similar. But I know how virtually meaningless a comment like that can be. Anyway there is no change. It does seem appropriate to move the graphics part of this discussion to that other users thread. What do you think?

As for the wifi. I simply restart and it works. When I suspend it stops and I restart and it works.  But nothing short of restarting does anything, including restarting the network. I did at one point edit a config file that according to a Peppermint thread was stopping a laptop from suspending. But I see now that that particular suspend issue was not a concern or not known at that time.

Code: [Select]
mobileme@SnappyPenquen ~ $ nmcli nm status

running         disconnected    disabled        disabled   enabled         $

There shouldn't have been an /etc/X11/xorg file to begin with .. there isn't one by default any more, but if you create one it *IS* acted upon.

Okay let's look at the graphics first, as if this isn't solveable there's little point in doing the wireless workaround.

Take a look at this page:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man8/pm-action.8.html

See the "quirks" ( such as "--quirk-vbemode-restore" and "--quirk-vbestate-restore" and "--quirk-save-pci") ?

You need to put your PC into hibernate with one of the quirks applied and test if one of them resumes properly.

So open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo pm-hibernate --quirk-vbemode-restoreand see if it resumes without garbled graphics.

If not, try:
Code: [Select]
sudo pm-hibernate --quirk-vbestate-restoreand see if it resumes without garbled graphics.

If not, try:
Code: [Select]
sudo pm-hibernate --quirk-save-pciand see if it resumes without garbled graphics.

If you find one that resumes properly .. let us know which.

Those did not work. I did not restart after running them. Except after the first one when the graphics were already messed up.

I took another look at this. This time I went through all three options, restarting every time. Once the middle one left the screen with pixel like virtical lines of primary colors. At which time I was able to drop to a prompt which I also couldn't see, but was able to ctrl alt delete to reboot.

So indeed they all failed. I will now attempt some of the other options at that site.

The dead horse is fully beaten. I tried every one including the S3s. None of them changed a thing.

I have come to accept the messed up graphics as they are. The issue is a relatively small graphical artifact. It's not ideal but the desktop is fully usable.

What are the WI-FI remedies?

Was rfkill list supposed to be before or after suspend?
