Installing Canon wireless printer
« on: March 10, 2016, 07:42:46 am »
Hi:

How can I instal a Canon MX-410 MFC? It is a wifi printer/scanner and it is not attached to any other computer in my network.

Thanks in advance,

E.S.

Download the drivers for the printer from here (just click the red "Download Now" button on the page):
MX410 series IJ Printer Driver Ver. 3.50 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)
and the scanner from here (just click the red "Download Now" button on the page):
MX410 series ScanGear MP Ver. 1.70 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)

Then once you have the 2 archives let us know and we'll post further instructions how to install them.

Can you also open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and post the output from running this command:
Code: [Select]
uname -a
Do not attempt to install the above drivers yet or you'll get a message about a required dependency (libtiff4) not being satisfiable.

OK. I downloaded both files and this is my uname output

enrique@Naranja ~ $ uname -a
Linux Naranja 3.16.0-62-generic #83~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 26 22:52:48 UTC 2016 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

(And yes, I tried to install and got the dependencies error)

  ;)

Okay, download this file:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/149179040/libtiff4_3.9.7-2ubuntu1_i386.deb
and double click it to install

Once you've installed that you shouldn't get the dependency error any more.
