Slow down, guys!

I never did say that Dutch was a dialect. I was replying to VinDSL and what he said about Flemish -- it is not a language but a dialect. I guess that wasn't clear in my reply ... especially since I wrote my reply without reading all of the postings in between  :-[

Now I guess that I will get hammered by the Flemish speakers who will be claiming language rights and saying that Dutch and German are all Flemish dialects!  :D Although we all know in our hearts that Frisian is the Mother of all languages! 8)

You're right there, Frisian is the true mother tongue of the Western Germanics.  It's the closest to English for sure  ;).
