Ubuntu Builder GUI PPA or DEB Source -SOLVED
« on: December 14, 2015, 04:01:30 am »
Hi,

I want to add some application into peppermint 6 Live-CD using Ubuntu Builder. So I need not to install same application and update using internet every time  on fresh installation.

I request you please share information where I can get Ubuntu builder DEB package or PPA link.

Regards,

Rajeev Gautam

There is no 14.04 / trusty version of Ubuntu builder .. the last release before it was discontinued was for 13.10 / saucy
https://launchpad.net/~f-muriana/+archive/ubuntu/ubuntu-builder/+packages
and
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-builder

The Ubuntu UCK also appears to be a dead project:
https://launchpad.net/~uck-team/+archive/ubuntu/uck-stable
and
http://sourceforge.net/projects/uck/

So it looks like you'll have to learn to do it manually .. but please be aware, if you plan to distribute the resulting ISO you'll need to remove all Peppermint branding. ;)

It is company use only. I have no plan to redistribute that ISO image. In my company we have 62 computers (P-IV and Celeron between 512 to 1.5 G.B RAM with XP). We're planning to propose my management that we can use this old computers with Peppermint Linux along with all apps user may requires. That's why we want to add our require apps into one ISO so we can save lot of time to reinstall apps on every installation and consume internet bandwidth every time. We don't have Linux trained engineer do all this manual work their own every time.

If you know any GUI app which allow us to add apps into Live-ISO as per our requirement share it with us. Or share step by step tutorial of manual way.

If we able to do this than we'll use peppermint otherwise we may be give try to Linux mint xfce or mate. I had tried Peppermint on one of my old computer and performance was great and smooth.

Any way Thanks for your information and advice.

Regards,

Rajeev Gautam

Why bother with an ISO at all .. just install Peppermint (or Mint) on one hard drive (with no proprietary graphics drivers), make any modifications you want .. then just clone it to the other hard drives.

Unlike Windows, (as long as there's no proprietary drivers set up) Linux will just reconfigure itself for the new hardware.

after the clone, you can boot the PC's and just add proprietary graphics drivers where necessary.

You're probably best off getting it from launchpad than someones google drive account
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-builder/+download

but remember AFAIK it's not built for 14.04 .. it *might* work with 14.04/Peppermint 6 ISO's, or it might not.

I'm able to install this on Linux Mint 17.1 Mate 32bit (14.04) and Peppermint 6 64bit. I used Linux Mint ubuntu builder and able to add apps in linux mint 17.1 32 bit Live-ISO and build new ISO. But When I tried  to select peppermint 6 32 bit ISO in ubuntu builder it give error messages it is 64 bit ISO you should use 64 bit OS to do so.

Error snap shot as below:-
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwT9N8tf1RL6WE1lTFZhRTNTRF93YTZpVGJHM3Bhc25uVXNn

can any linux 32 bit version can use 64 bit grub?  :-\

And when I used ubuntu builder on peppermint 6 64bit  and select peppermint 6 32 bit live-ISO it allows me and I able to add apps into this ISO but when I build the ISO it named this Peppermint-6-amd64.iso .  I don't understand why this happen.

Some how Ubuntu Builder works. :)

Hi

First the sad news:
Francesco Muriana, the creator of the Ubuntu builder, has abandoned his project.

Now for the better news:
Seems as if Kamilion has decided to at least make the last Ubuntu builder release done by Francsco Muriana available for 14.04 Trusty :P

https://launchpad.net/~kamilion/+archive/ubuntu/ubuntu-builder?field.series_filter=trusty

I start Loving this community. :-*

I came to Know about other Ubuntu ISO Builder on the Name of Pinguy Builder.

The Pinguy Builder will create a installable ISO of your current system. You can then burn that ISO to a USB using something like Unetbootin or just burn the ISO directly to a DVD. The DVD/USB can then be booted from a PC.

I hope it will be helpful for others.
