Remove "Default Keyring" (Solved)
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:44:15 pm »
Hello everyone,

When I first setup vpn with PM6, I was prompted to enter a keyring password.  I didn't know that I could've just left it blank so I entered something.  Now, the system prompts for the default keyring when I first turn on PM6 and connects to VPN.  How do I remove the keyring password?  I read online that there is a application within passwords to remove keyring passwords but I couldn't find it in PM6.

thanks

seahorse is what you're after .. you can install it with:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install seahorse
You'll then find it in the menu at

menu > Preferences > Passwords & Keys

I Installed Seahorse and got open it under passwords & keys but I do not see anything listed.  I can see the default has a "lock" next to it and there are ways for me to create a new keying.  So how do I remove the existing keyring I created when setting up VPN?

Thank you

What's the output from:
Code: [Select]
ls -a ~/.local/share/keyrings

What's the output from:
Code: [Select]
ls -a ~/.local/share/keyrings

here is the output. Didn't use spoiler since it is only 1 line.

Code: [Select]
dfei@dfei-AO532h ~ $ ls -a ~/.local/share/keyrings
.  ..  default  Default_keyring.keyring  user.keystore

Run:
Code: [Select]
mv ~/.local/share/keyrings ~/.local/share/keyrings-oldthen
Code: [Select]
mkdir ~/.local/share/keyringsthen try connecting to your VPN (or deleting it and recreating it) .. if it asks for a keyring password, leave it BLANK

The other option instead of leaving it blank is to use the same password as you use to login to Peppermint .. but if you've enabled autologin for Peppermint, it'll still prompt for the password so best leave it blank.
