This is astonishing...  but not in the way you are thinking.
Curiosity got the better of me and I paid 1.60 for the privilege of downloading and installing this Linux Distro.
BANG!!! it bombed out before install finished with an error message to quick to capture and rebooted the machine. Thankfully a lot had finished and I am writing this within the Distro.

and here is the OMFG part.   They want me to pay $25 dollars for a support call/e-mail to help me with their software not installing correctly.

Now the system appears to be working ok???  but is it - had everything  finished installing??  what components are missing??  Do I need to try an install again??

$25 to find out HAHAHAHAHA  - .|.  Robolinux...

This post will continue as I install (take2) and will update you all on the second attempt.  A Happy Distro Hopper - ROFLMFAO

OK  so the question I want to answer for myself is, is this any better than any other Debian M8 system.  Is the "Forced" payment of $2 and paypal tax actually benefiting the Distro in that it is funding Development.  Only time will tell.   1st impressions....  its OK but not great.  It's quick but then is another Debian M8 distro quick.
One install via Wine and I cant work out how to point it back to the .wine folder as there is no way of telling it to show hidden files to put the "fix" in there.
All other Distro's I have found that worked with Wine have installed 1st time no hassles...    so -1 already on the score for that alone.

Are you guys and girls interested in this - I don't know...   For me its really an investigation into the model Robolinux have adopted to get funding for development or is it simply a money maker as people will say pffft  its only $2 lets pay it. Believe their website and they have had a million downloads.  If only 1/10 of that is true thats $20,000.  Not to be sniffed at.

I also need to find another Debian M8 distro to compare it against so any suggestions on that score...  fire away.

a BIG PS. Peppermint 6 is installed on my SSD card and is not going anywhere.   will I compare it against Robolinux.  Rhetorial question... No because  NO CONTEST. please refer to what is installed on my SSD...    investigation continues

ok Experiment over as Robolinux is some seriously flawed piece of kit.   Chose their "Driver Install" section and the first time of choosing Nvidia Proprietory drivers the system bombed out made a wierd beep noise and rebooted

The 2nd attempt using Debian Nvidia drivers - all installed ok rebooted - Black screen.....   nada.... Nothing
Reboot choosing recovery mode.....    Black Screen.....   nada  nothing

So....   lesson of the day   spend the money on a McDonalds Chicken Mayo Burger...   much more palatable  :P

It never looked all that exciting to me, that's why I never tried it.  Anyway, thanks for reinforcing that for me.  Now I know I don't have to try it.  ;)

Thanks for the feedback and your opinion.  I've often seen, Robolinux mentioned in DistroWatch with an update for this or that but nothing made me say, "I have to try that".  I'll now keep on avoiding it  :).  On the other hand I have been considering giving SparkyLinux a drive around the block; albeit as a Live session.  SparkyLinux is built on Debian Testing and they have a Mate spin.  They're a Polish outfit and they get really positive reviews.  Maybe you should give them a go, as a comparison test ;).
