Thunderbird is okay but I want to see if there are other alternatives. Besides, Thunderbird doesn't show a system tray notification

My missus had endless problems with Thunderbird with deleted emails bouncing back and I couldn't stop it so I installed Claws and other than being a little more tricky to set up it's every bit as good as Thunderbird

Thanks PCNetSpec but I have used those add ons. I have tried a lot of them but some are error prone and do not look good. like sometimes, a big number on my system tray or an ugly email icon.

Guess I'll have to stick to Thunderbird :(

Hi Graeme I have used Claws Mail and its a lightweight email client like Sylpheed is but it shows email in a text-like manner. And I have to deal with emails in html format (with links and pictures etc embedded). Thunderbird is said to be buggy by a lot of users but it doesn't give me any problems. Probably because I have to manually configure my email mailbox. :) Thanks for the suggestion though. Claws Mail has earned a lot of reputation as a lightweight email client

Give Evolution a try. Can not expect as much as of Thunderbird, but a reasonable alternative for Outl**k people.

Thanks Mracz, Evolution looks good but does it display emails in HTML web-page-like format?

I'm left wondering: have you tried Sylpheed / Claws Mail? I think they're both in the repos...

Hi midas. I have used Sylpheed and Claws. they are both lightweight email clients. And they display emails in text-like format. I needed something heavier to display emails in Web page format :)

I think both Sylpheed and Claws have plugins that allow you to view HTML emails (not sure about sending though).
