Why the concern with having a shutdown button in the menu? Just curious.

Why not just use the shutdown button that is on the panel, in the bottom right corner of those screen shots?

Or, good 'ol ALT-CTRL-DELETE?

That's what I use most of the time...   ;)

Is cardapio still under development?? When i go the Launchpad site, the last packages were meant for Ubuntu Quantal: https://launchpad.net/~cardapio-team/+archive/ubuntu/cardapio-ppa

And they are/were looking for new developers: https://launchpad.net/cardapio/+announcement/11268

So... looking at all this, is it wise to add something to Peppermint OS 5 (Ubuntu 14.04) which isn't really meant for this release??

It's not specifically designed for Peppermint, but then 99% of what you run isn't, it's designed (or compiled) for "Linux" .. I can't see that it could pose a security risk or technical impediment.. but it's for you to decide if you want to use it or not.

The next 2 posts removed

They were about peppermint 3 .. this tutorial is for Peppermint "5" ONLY .. hence the title.

If you want to create/post a tutorial for installing Cardapio in Peppermint 3 .. feel free, but please don't discuss instructions for Peppermint 3 in this tutorial which SPECIFICALLY says it's for Peppermint FIVE  .. that's just asking for confusion ;)

A lot of people (myself included) remove the shutdown icon from panel .. it's kinda superfluous if you use the one in the menu.

Just personal preference .. kinda the whole point of this topic ;)

i did just that removed it from the panel and prefer to use it in the menu which is why i wanted it in this menu instead. i think it looks 'cleaner'
with out it on the panel. and i was a mac user not a windows user :p i had windows for about 2 weeks before i went right to linux. if it's not mac
its linux i can't stand window.s

Thanks for this tutorial which I have up and running.  ;D

A couple of minor issues: under Places on the menu, if I click on Rubbish Bin or Network - it loads Chromium, rather than the respective locations I was expecting (i.e. using the file manager, as it does for the other Places)? I have tried to edit paths but can't see where to do this. Thanks if you can advise.    :-\

This worked great for me thank you.

plus I just moved the old Menu item to the bottom just in case - I have my panel on the left side  so I have the best of both worlds :)
