Great stuff .. but just to be sure your system is aware of the new swap partition (it might not be if you had to delete/recereate it) can you post the output from.....

Here are the details

Hi madentaiwn,

Your output from

Code: [Select]
free -m

shows that your swap partition is not being recognized. Look at the output from

Code: [Select]
sudo blkid

and note the UUID for /dev/sda6 (which is your swap partition). This long number:

23ef9c5d-fd1e-47b3-a5cc-893bebb55e3e

needs to appear in the file /etc/fstab as the UUID number for the swap partition (the last line in your file fstab). So now open a terminal and run:

Code: [Select]
sudo gedit /etc/fstab

and put the correct UUID number in the last line. Then save the file and close the editor. Still in the terminal run:

Code: [Select]
sudo mount -a

Then again run:

Code: [Select]
free -m

and post the output here again.

Yup, as long as after a reboot:
Code: [Select]
free -m
still gives you this line:-

Swap:         4028          0       4028

then you're all done.

you can allocate the spare space from one partition to another by disk management(windows's built-in software),but it has very few function and also not humanic, for e.g. you cant allocate space from logic partition to basic partition. if you wanna make it simple,i recommand you to use a 3rd-party software named"minitool partition wizard",which is totally free and more easy to use ,
