Using dnsmasq for DNS and DHCP services
« on: September 26, 2015, 01:00:02 am »
I have five laptops and one wireless router. Out of five laptops there is three laptops with Linux OS and two Laptops with windows. I want to share folders on each laptop and want access over the network. I want to access laptop by their Name Instead IP address. I want to enable DHCP in router and every laptop getting IP address from it. But I want to configure DNS and Dnsmasq is a Domain Name System (DNS) forwarder so I can access laptop by hostname. I request you please help me in this and let me know how I can do this.

Regards,

Rajeev Gautam

Hi Rajeev,

You might take a look at this.  It's not exactly what you are asking but works for transferring files/folders.
