OK, run these commands in sequence:
Code: [Select]
xdg-mime default transmission-gtk.desktop application/x-bittorrent
then
Code: [Select]
xdg-mime default transmission-gtk.desktop x-scheme-handler/magnet
then
Code: [Select]
cd /usr/bin
then
Code: [Select]
sudo wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11876059/xdg-open-magnet-fix.tar.gz
then
Code: [Select]
sudo tar xvf xdg-open-magnet-fix.tar.gz
Now REBOOT.

Once rebooted, test xdg-open opens transmission for magnet links with:
Code: [Select]
xdg-open "magnet:?xt=urn:btih:00f31997b0240ef6235271ae80a95ea402055bdb"
that should open transmission and after you click Open should download
Linux Shell Scripting with Bash.pdf

If that works .. try a magnet link in Chromium or Chrome.

Ignore the gnome-keyring warning, it's not important.

Are magnet links now working in Chromium ?
