It has come to my attention that Skelmersdale Public Library, Lancashire, England have switched all their public access computers to Peppermint Six.  Way to go Lancashire County Council  ;).

My sister lives in Skelmersdale and uses the Public Library there a lot.  She uses Peppermint Six herself.  She informed me that the other day when she went to the library, the public access computer's were booting up Peppermint Six.  My brother-in-law uses Peppermint Five and also uses the library.  He told me the same thing - cool eh!

:) That's great news for Peppermint but it's not surprising to me that a library would use linux in the first place. In my experience libraries usually have a fairly knowledgeable computer person or two (sometimes even on a voluteer basis) that really try to do quality work with next to no hardware or software resources. I'm happy Peppermint was able to provide a solution.

Another reason it makes sense for a Public Library to use a Linux system is the fact that they're provided free of charge.  Public Libraries get their funding from tax dollars and any money they can save can be spent elsewhere.

I have emailed the library to ask if I can do a blog post on the project.

Let's hope they are friendly.

That's great news Andy it would be good if we could do some kind of an Interview with the IT staff there, find out what made them switch to Peppermint and what their experience has been using it so far

Made my day as well :)
