Hi tumsuden, welcome to the Peppermint Forum.  For us to help you, you'll have to give us some more information about your machine.  Do you have access to a USB mouse?  If you do, please attach it and then open a terminal window with the following keystrokes: Ctrl+Alt+t.  Copy and paste the following command into the terminal window and post back the output.
Code: [Select]
inxi -F

Have you run a post-installation update and upgrade?  If you haven't done this, we highly recommend you do so as it resolves many minor issues without the need for further action.

Since the time when your installation ISO was originally created, the kernel and the installed software packages will have gone through several upgrades.  Peppermint, like other Linux distributions is a very dynamic and rapidly evolving operating system.  Consequently, it needs to be kept as current as possible for optimal performance.   Please open a terminal window with the following keystrokes: Ctrl+Alt+t.  Enter the following commands into the terminal window.

TipLinux is case sensitive.  To reduce the possibility of typographical errors please click the Code: [Select] function below to highlight the contents. Click on the centre mouse button/wheel while the cursor is in the terminal window to paste the contents.

Note: For enhanced security, passwords are entered invisibly.  There is NO indication of any user input.  You may enter an incorrect password 3 times before you have to repeat the action you are trying to execute.

Code: [Select]
apt update && apt upgrade
Hit enter and enter your user password when asked.  Hit enter again and follow the on screen instructions.  After that has completed, continue with:
Code: [Select]
apt dist-upgrade
Hit enter and enter your user password if asked.  Hit enter again and follow the on screen instructions.

After the upgrade has completed, reboot your machine because there may have been kernel upgrades.  I hope this helps  ;).

If after doing what Andy said, if it still doesn't work can you also post the output from:
Code: [Select]
xinput --list

Hello.
Thanks for response but unhappily touch pad is still not working.
I'm using a Dell laptop, Inspiron 15 3000 series. It's a minimal setup but flies on Peppermint 6.
Wireless Mouse works like a champ
Any ideas?

Hi tumsuden, post back the outputs that PCNetSpec and I have requested.  Open a terminal window with the following keystrokes: Ctrl+Alt+t.  Enter the following commands into the terminal window.

Tip: You might find this little forum tip very useful.  Linux is case sensitive.  It's very IMPORTANT that commands are entered correctly into the terminal window.  To reduce the possibility of typographical errors, please click on the Code: [Select] function that's located above the command to highlight the contents.  Click on the centre mouse button/wheel while the mouse cursor is in the terminal window to paste the contents.

Code: [Select]
inxi -F
Hit enter and post the output back to the forum  ;)

Code: [Select]
xinput --list
Hit enter and post the output back to the forum  ;).

Tip: To copy from the terminal, use either Ctrl+Shift+c or use your right mouse button

When you post an output to the forum.  Could you please remember to encapsulate it with either the, # Insert Code function or the, Sp Spoiler function if it very long.  This preserves the original format of the output.  These functions are found above the,  :-[ Embarrassed and  :'( Cry emoticon respectively in the forum editor - many thanks  ;);).

Try this....

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo cp -v /etc/default/grub /etc/default/grub.bak
then
Code: [Select]
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
find the line that reads:-
Code: [Select]
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
and change it to:-
Code: [Select]
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i8042.nopnp"
SAVE file and exit gedit.

Back in the terminal run:
Code: [Select]
sudo update-grub
then:
Code: [Select]
echo "blacklist i2c_hid" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/i2c-hid.conf
then:
Code: [Select]
sudo depmod -a
then:
Code: [Select]
sudo update-initramfs -u
then:
Code: [Select]
echo "synaptics_i2c" | sudo tee -a /etc/modules
then REBOOT

Hi tumsuden, that's great to know  ;).  If you would like to make a donation.  It can be done from the Peppermint Home page: .peppermintos.com.  Everything received helps to keep Peppermint the quality distro it is - many thanks for your generosity  ;)

For future reference, could you please remember to mark the topic as [SOLVED] in the subject line of the original post.  I've done this for you this time.  Many thanks  ;).
