Which instructions did you follow to add the fan control ?

and what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
cat /etc/modprobe.d/acerhdf.conf
and
Code: [Select]
dmesg | grep acerhdf

I followed your instructions for Peppermint 5.  Following is the output you requested:

jlschwartz@jlschwartz-AOA150 ~ $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/acerhdf.conf
options acerhdf interval=5 fanon=60000 fanoff=55000 kernelmode=1
jlschwartz@jlschwartz-AOA150 ~ $ dmesg | grep acerhdf
[   25.200410] acerhdf: module verification failed: signature and/or  required key missing - tainting kernel
[   25.244171] acerhdf: Acer Aspire One Fan driver, v.0.5.30b
jlschwartz@jlschwartz-AOA150 ~ $

Hopefully everything is ok.  Thanks for all of your help. :)

Since my last post I did a complete shutdown and re-start of Peppermint 5 and now the fan does appear to be controlling.  Maybe it's ok.  Thanks. ;D

Yeah that output suggests the right driver is being loaded .. so all's well :)

There's some new instructions on here somewhere for a DKMS version, but I wouldn't bother with that whilst it's working .. we can come back to that if a kernel update ever breaks the fan control (it'll never break it dangerously .. if control breaks, the fan will just be on constantly).

and as always, you're welcome :)
