WOW - Changed kernel and it seems a lot faster ?
« on: August 17, 2015, 12:33:27 pm »
ok I am now running Kernel: 4.1.1-040101-generic x86_64 (64 bit) and the system is "noticeably" faster.

Don't ask me why I picked that one - but I am glad I did  :D

How often do you all change your kernels?

How often do you all change your kernels?

When it's available as a dist upgrade.  If that doesn't happen, when I change to the next OS version.  (IE: going from P5 to P6)

The only other reason I'd change kernels in an installed OS would be if I was having major issues with the default kernel.

Like scifidude I only ever change kernel if there's a compeling reason to do so, such as better support for some hardare I may have .. upgrading the kernel on its own (to a new kernel series) may cause firmare/xorg/third party driver problems.

How often do you all change your kernels?

I've got a kernel fetish.  I change kernels at least once a week - sometimes more - usually on multiple machines.

So, several times a week, if you want to look at it that way.  ;D
