You've gotta post it off site somewhere.  Dropbox, Flickr, Photoshop, etc.  Or, if you have your own web space, you could use that.

That works nicely.  :)

Unfortunately, I do not know how to help you with your problem.  But, at least you have the information up so that, when somebody comes along who does, they can get cracking on helping you.

That message doesn't really contain any useful info .. what happens if you remove "quiet splash" from the kernel boot line ?

if you're not sure how to do this, please confirm this is happening when booting a LiveCD.

hello again, just have a moment to confirm that yes, this photo reveals the message that appeared whilst attempting to boot the p6 live cd... my other duckducking around the www led me to something about the need for PAE... which this older dell machine may not have... though i've not had a moment to figure out what that is... am hoping to move my archives to this much quieter machine away from the 2003 compaq and the 2005 qosmio laptops. Dual boot would be nice in order to retain access to the genealogy software which needs windows, it would take me a lifetime to move to a new program...

Give us the make model of Dell ?

If it has certain models of Pentium M or Celeron M processor it *may* actually support PAE but not report it to the kernel .. if this is the case, you can use the "forcepae" kernel flag
