Fujitsu AmiloPro v2030 - no wireless with PM6 [SOLVED]
« on: July 31, 2015, 02:29:58 pm »
Similar to a problem I had before with an ASUS A6R and B43 wireless card; the wireless simply does not show up at all in Network Connections.
I'm guessing this may be useful, but probably not all that may be needed to help:
Code: [Select]
sudo lshw -C network
  *-network:0
       description: Network controller
product: BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller
       vendor: Broadcom Corporation
       physical id: 6
       bus info: pci@0000:00:06.0
       version: 02
       width: 32 bits
       clock: 33MHz
       capabilities: bus_master
       configuration: driver=b43-pci-bridge latency=64
       resources: irq:18 memory:d0000000-d0001fff
  *-network:1
       description: Ethernet interface
       product: VT6102 [Rhine-II]
       vendor: VIA Technologies, Inc.
       physical id: 12
       bus info: pci@0000:00:12.0
       logical name: eth0
       version: 78
       serial: 00:40:ca:da:f7:53
       size: 10Mbit/s
       capacity: 100Mbit/s
       width: 32 bits
       clock: 33MHz
       capabilities: pm bus_master cap_list ethernet physical tp mii 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd autonegotiation
       configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=via-rhine driverversion=1.5.1 duplex=half latency=64 link=no maxlatency=8 mingnt=3 multicast=yes port=MII speed=10Mbit/s
       resources: irq:23 ioport:2000(size=256) memory:d0002c00-d0002cff

The wireless interface is not showing up. It was working in an older version of PM (3, I think) and I don't thin I had to do anything special to get it working.

iwconfig does not show the wireless info at all.

Ideas much appreciated.

can you post the output from:
Code: [Select]
lspci -vnn | grep -i netso we can get the vendor:product ID string .. itll be something like this:
14e4:4318

Can you also connect to your router via an ethernet cable and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install -y firmware-b43-installerCan you also post the output from:
Code: [Select]
rfkill list

As ever, your help was fantastic!
The LSPCI gave exactly the string you predicted: 14e4:4318
The B43 drivers all loaded up.
The RFkill list gave no output.
On reboot - the wireless works!

 Many thanks indeed.
