got ? about servers

im currently getting an Linux cert and im very confuse on the sever hardware can some explain why i need to know something that 20yrs old? i understand i need to learn the history but is because their trying to use old severs with the new software???
once a linux user always an linux user!

Hi bluzeo, I'm really not sure what you are trying to ask here?  We're not going to be able to help you if you can't be more specific with your question.  For example, what is the hardware, with specifications?  What is the software being used? Is it Peppermint related?  Most importantly, it's the college's hardware and they are running the course.  Have you asked them theses questions?
