Caan we check which card you have first so we can see if the b43 drivers would do te trick .. sta are more awkward to install offline

Can you run:
Code: [Select]
lsusb
and
Code: [Select]
lspci -vnn | grep -i net
and post the vendor:product ID string for your wireless adapter .. it will look something like

14e4:4312

Can you also post the output from:
Code: [Select]
uname -pi

What's the question here ?

Are you asking if the b43 or sta drivers can be added to a LiveUSB ?

or if they can be added to a PC post install, but offline (ie without an ethernet connection) ?

OK install Peppermint 6 offline, and I'll type up how to install the b43 drivers and the firmware offline

by offline I mean by downloading some files on another PC .. then transferring them across for installation

I'll be a short while because I have to track down the correct files, but I'll type em up in a sec.

OK, instructions for an offline install of b43-fwcutter and firmware for Broadcom Wireless cards

Create a new directory on your desktop called b43offline

On another PC with internet access .. download the b43-fwcutter package for your architecture from ONE of the following links
(DO NOT download both versions, be sure to just get the one for your architecture)

For 32bit Peppermint Six:
http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/b/b43-fwcutter/b43-fwcutter_018-2_i386.deb

for 64bit Peppermint Six:
http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/b/b43-fwcutter/b43-fwcutter_018-2_amd64.deb

and place it in the b43offline directory you created on your Peppermint desktop)

Once you have the b43-fwcutter_018-2_xxxx.deb file in the b43offline directory on your desktop .. open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run:
Code: [Select]
cd ~/Desktop/b43offline
then
Code: [Select]
sudo dpkg -i b43-fwcutter*

On another PC with internet access .. download this file:-
http://www.lwfinger.com/b43-firmware/broadcom-wl-5.100.138.tar.bz2
and copy it to the b43offline directory you created on the Peppermint desktop.

Open a terminal, and run these commands in sequence:
Code: [Select]
cd ~/Desktop/b43offline
then
Code: [Select]
tar xvjf broadcom-wl-5.100.138.tar.bz2
then
Code: [Select]
cd ~/Desktop/b43offline/broadcom-wl-5.100.138/linux
then
Code: [Select]
sudo b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware wl_apsta.o
then
Code: [Select]
sudo chmod 755 /lib/firmware/b43
then
Code: [Select]
sudo modprobe -r b43
(don't worry if that command fails .. just carry on below
then
Code: [Select]
sudo modprobe b43

Wireless adapters that use the b43 drivers should now spring to life

Once it's working .. feel free to save/move/delete the b43offline directory from your desktop

Hi Francis,

This thread has been marked as (SOLVED), so you might not get much attention adding your problem onto it. You need to, or should, start a new message thread stating your problem.  ;) Be sure to give information about your machine using the command

Code: [Select]
inxi -F
and posting the output in your message. Also tell us which Peppermint version you are using (7?) and if it is 32bit or 64bit.

Just trying to help.

Regards,

-- Slim
