Great write-up!  The author gets it.  I just posted the article on LinkedIn...   8)

BTW, I was chatting with a Swedish DJ friend, a couple of nights ago.  His winders machine had a virus.  I told him about Peppermint Six.

When I talked to him last night, he said we "have another user."  He couldn't believe how fast it was - and 'the speed is the only thing he cares about.'  LoL

One of the best things about Peppermint is, you don't need to twist any arms.  It sells itself...   :D

Yeah one of the few that "gets" peppermint .. just a pity that if you go to the same article on fekbook, the comments section is full of people who obviously haven't read the article or anything about Peppermint before commenting with the usual:-

31 views on my LinkedIn account, this morning!   :)

That's big, for LinkedIn - beats all the rest of my 'updates' the past 24 hrs.

Yeah, I was reading some of that garbage and just rolling my eyes.  This is my favorite:

Microsoft handed Linux a golden opportunity on a silver platter with Windows Genuine Advantage, Vista, and stealth updates. Linux responded by doing nothing to capitalize on that opportunity.

Yes, because "Linux" is some giant entity that has billions of dollars available to it to capitalize on an opportunity.   ::)  It's not like a huge corporation.  I mean, most distributions are programmed by people who have a day job and work on it in their spare time.

not only did the people that b*tched about  Peppermints "cloudiness" not take the time to try understand Peppermint .. they didn't even read the article they're commenting on ::) or they'd have understood that Peppermint is in NO way tied to the cloud, it just has the ability to take advantage of it IF YOU WANT.

it's those idiots that get to me .. Grrrr!!!!  >:(

If you don't know the subject .. shut the **** up you self important dribbling cavity heads. :P

[EDIT]

Does anyone think that now I'm taking a more leading role in Peppermint that I should temper my posts a little sometimes, or not get caught up in the politics so much  :D

No.  There's nothing wrong with having that kind of passion.   Besides, it's not like you're saying anything that's not true or using bad conduct.  You're just saying how you feel, and this is a discussion thread.  Though, I may be biased by the fact that I agree with everything you've said here.  :P

I'm thinking we need a PR man someone with eloquence, someone who who speaks his mind someone who can command respect with only a few words someone who can get his point across without pissing people off someone with insight on what makes a good distro and last but by no means least someone who knows how a screenshot utility should work

suggestions on a postcard

I replied to a couple of them earlier, but I left most of them alone.  (I also liked your comment)  I always just roll my eyes at stuff like this:

Quote
Until Linux in any of its manifestations can run significant applications such as science, engineering, and games exactly like Windows can, Linux will remain an insignificant splinter of the desktop market.

Ignorance like this comes entirely from listening to Microsoft propaganda and not from firsthand experience.  Especially the games bit.  While the selection is smaller, Linux is great for gaming.  I've only had one or two issues with games running on it, but I've had plenty of issues with games not working well on Windows too.  In fact, sometimes more, especially if the game was built with a specific Windows version in mind.  (IE: XP game doesn't do so well on Win7)

When I originally posted there were only 3 responses and all of them were of the "nope, don't trust the cloud" type .. seems they're now a minority :)
