If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs then you're not quite grasping the situation

Hi, it appears the fix for the magnetic links for the Transmission torrent client as provided here: http://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,1905.msg18212.html#msg18212 is no longer working.  I've tried applying the fix as provided at: https://askubuntu.com/questions/311537/torrent-magnet-links-open-new-window-but-not-transmission.  This didn't fix the issue either  :-\.

It's working for me in Chrome Andy  :-\

I take it the output from:
Code: [Select]
echo $DESKTOP_SESSION
is
Peppermint
?

Are you trying it in Chrome or Chromium ?

Yeah, the output is Peppermint and I'm using Chrome not Chromium.  This is the version: Version 45.0.2454.85 (64-bit).  It was working fine a couple of days ago  :-\.  I've just checked on the AAO and it's working fine on 32-bit - weird eh  :-\.

I'm using 64bit and the same version of Chrome, so it's definitely something peculiar to your setup

if you've made the edit to
/usr/share/applications/defaults.list

try the xdg-open file from here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11876059/xdg-open-magnet-fix.tar.gz
and if that doesn't work, try this one

Cheers, the second xdg-open tarball fixed it.  I wonder what the problem was?  I couldn't see any difference to the xdg-open I was using.  I guess it's just best to let, "sleeping dogs lie"  ;D.  I'll call this one done and dusted - many thanks  ;).

As (at least for now) it seems to be peculiar to just that machine and it's working now, I think that's wise :)

I normally use a Transmission plugin on my NAS .... when I click on a Magnet link it immediately loads Transmission (on the PC)

I know I'm massively late to this thread but the solution is to install Transmission Remote GUI on your Peppermint system.

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install transgui

Nice find murraymint, until now I'd been just using the Transmission WebUI from the NAS.

This is a lot easier than copy/pasting the address :)
