My desktop has disappeared (SOLVED)
« on: April 18, 2014, 05:15:04 pm »
All my desktop files have suddenly disappeared in Peppermint 4.

Everything was fine yesterday, but this evening I have a completely blank desktop.
If I go to Menu > File Manager > Desktop, the file is totally empty.

I'm sure I've done something stupid, but I'd appreciate any assistance to recover my files.

Thanks in advance

What's the output from
Code: [Select]
ls -a /home/<username>/Desktop

Hello Mark,

The output is not very encouraging....
Code: [Select]
ls: cannot access /home/tony/Desktop: No such file or directory

Hang on a sec..... I've found it.

I seem to have a poltergeist that moves things around inside my netbook. But I've caught him out: he re-filed my desktop as /home/tony/Documents/Desktop.

But I'm not sure how to rectify this.

Run:
Code: [Select]
mv /home/tony/Documents/Desktop /home/tony/Desktop
Log off/on to test.
