Congrats to the team behind Peppermint 6 - looking forward to trying it. Have checked out the screenshots and I must say it looks pretty sweet   :D

Am downloading the file now but it's fluctuating between saying 5 hrs to 17 hrs to finish. I guess it'll finish when it finishes. I'm not an impatient person, honest...!  ::)

Incidentally, I visited family last weekend and one member has a netbook that is so horribly slow (I think it was running Win7) that it's essentially consigned to the dustbin. My own netbook (Samsung NC10) runs PM5 very smoothly so I'm going to be upgrading their netbook to PM6 (and I expect also my own). Am I right in thinking PM6 ought to run as smoothly on a netbook as its predecessor?

I upgraded from Peppermint 3 to 6 on my aging server. Peppermint 6 is so much faster, this doesn't really feel like an 10 year old computer anymore. I'm personally not a fan of many of the software changes (from Peppermint 5 to 6), but they are easy enough to replace with my preferred alternatives. I'm very glad light-locker is gone, though.

Question:
The release notes say, "The new Wallpaper manager (based on nitrogen) now makes wallpaper management a breeze, just right-click on the desktop and select “Change Desktop Background” and you’ll see what we mean. The ability to right-click any image file and choose “Set as wallpaper” is also still present."

I'm not seeing this option when I right click on my desktop, though.

The right-click menu item will only display if nemo is controlling the desktop .. so if you've changed things......

Does the wallpaper changer work from the menu
Code: [Select]
menu > Accessories > Wallpapers
or from the command line
Code: [Select]
nitrogen
and what''s the output from:
Code: [Select]
ls -l /usr/share/nemo/actions

are you getting ANY right-click context menu on the desktop ?

Yes, I realized it was tied to nemo when I re-installed Peppermint 6 (for another reason), because now I have the option again.

Just out of curiosity what software changes didn't you like and why ?

If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs then you're not quite grasping the situation

Could someone who has actually managed to download this Dropbox it for those of us still struggling? Peppermint's download server is still getting wrecked, there must surely be a more convenient way for us to get Peppermint 6?

Torrent for the x64 version is up and working (though not showing on Peppermint main page):

Putting the Peppermint 6 ISO's in dropbox and posting a public link at this point would likely get your dropbox account suspended as it gets hammered.

I've had my dropbox account suspended for a network adapter driver that became too popular ;)

[EDIT]

We're awaiting torrent links from OSST and will publish them as soon as we have them .. thanks for your patience :)
