If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs then you're not quite grasping the situation

Hi Graeme, how's it going mate?  You took the words right out of my mouth.  I was just about to ask the same.  Yeah, the forum website is like, molasses going uphill on a cold day!!  Sometimes it just times out and a few refreshes are necessary.

It's because the main site is being hammered for ISO downloads, and they're both on the same VPS ;)

Yup!

I PM'ed PCNetSpec yesterday (took several minutes to submit the PM).  I couldn't get the screenshot page to come up, on the Peppermint production site.

We ended up having to use Dropbox, to get the needed screenies to me.

15 minutes later, I went back to the Peppermint site (previously tabbed in my browser) and the screenshot page was still loading...   ;D

Hello friends,

This may be completely coincidental, so what I'm saying here may not be logically sound at all--I don't know.  But this is what I've experienced concerning slowness and Peppermint 6.

I've experienced slowness with Peppermint 6 yesterday and today.  It moved like mud with my own ISP's DNS.  It was slow with Norton's too.  An hour ago it was still choppy with Google's Public DNS.  But, I've had no problems so far with Yandex' Safe DNS.

I've heard the user base is still quite small with Yandex' DNS; and although Yandex is a Russian company, it has servers in Amsterdam too.  This means, of course,  I have more lag time than my European friends would experience.  But, like I say, Peppermint 6 has been humming along for me just fine while using its services.

You can always check and see if changing to Yandex DNS helps you guys.  The price is right anyway! :)

Here's the link to Yandex DNS where I can see a picture of Ubuntu --which means they care about Linux users too!  ;)

Here's the link to Yandex DNS for the curious --with technical details thrown in:

P.S.

Remember, this might just be a coincidence that I'm experiencing with Peppermint 6 and Yandex DNS.  I don't know.  :-\

this is NOT a peppermint 6 problem .. it's purely that a lot of people are/were downloading the peppermint 6 ISO's (so the peppermint sites slowed down)

It happens every year ..the network connection on the VPS can only handle so much ;)

I showed my wife yesterday how everyone was trying to download Peppermint 6 at once.  Needless to say we both proud to have been part of Peppermint Linux OS history.  We're also extremely delighted we have our copies of Peppermint 6 already installed.  Hey, what can I say?  We're loving it!  :)

My sister in England received today the Acer Aspire One ZG5 I rebuilt for her.  Peppermint Six was all pre-installed and configured.  I did all that last week.  All she had to do was enter her Google details and she's away to the races.  No hanging about for her.  She's thrilled with her new Peppermint Six machine  ;).
