Customizing Firefox
« on: May 02, 2015, 03:48:09 pm »
Customizing Firefox's UI is tedious lately. Every time I load FF and add anything such as bookmarks to the UI, it is not remembered. What can I do about it? I have FF 37.0.1 for Canonical-1.0. What can I do about this?

Regards

Sorry but I still need help with this. Is this some thing that should better be handled in the Fire Fox forums?

Hi Brotherred, have you tried resetting Firefoox?  Run this command with all instances of Firefox closed.
Code: [Select]
mv -v ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.old
Launch Firefox from the menu.  Make some simple customizations for testing.  Close the browser and relaunch it.  Did you your customizations hold?
Backup! Backup! Backup! If you're missing any of these -  you ain't Backed Up!

Hi Brotherred,

You might try updating to the current version 38.0 -- but I don't recall having any problems with your version.  :-\

Hello thanx for the replies. First to AndyInMokum no sorry my settings such as a home button and search window were not saved. I did not think until now that I should not have used Sync though. Think I may have synced (again) an issue from a browser version from some time ago.

I will try it with out syncing.

if things work properly, and you can add bookmarks etc but they are not remembered across a browser restart .. this could be an ownership/permission issue of the ~/.mozilla directory or children (or a corrupt database).
