What's new in these new 5.4.3 versions? [SOLVED]
« on: June 26, 2015, 02:30:35 am »
Hi everyone,

I was wondering what changes have been made in the new 5.4.3 versions of:

peppermint-default-session
peppermint-default-settings
peppermint-live-settings

is there anything in these that we who try to give help/advice to Peppermint Six users should know about or that might be of use when trying to sort out problems?

Regards,

See here:
http://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,2040.0.html

the 3 of those packages are bundled together .. in reality the only one that changed was peppermint-default-settings

Originally it contained a modified version of /usr/bin/xflock4 (borrowed from xfce4) but apparently that stopped the installation of xfce4-session (which also contains it .. packages aren't allowed to install something that's supplied by another already installed package)

So the new version of peppermint default-settings instead of installing
/usr/bin/xflock4
installs
/usr/bin/peppermint-xflock4
and creates a symlink
/usr/bin/xflock4  -->  /usr/bin/peppermint-xflock4

this has the same effect as before, but doesn't block the installation of xfce4-session

Now whilst I have no idea why anyone would WANT to install Xfce in Peppermint, I certainly don't want to block it ;)

Thank you, PCNertSpec!

I agree -- I too would not install XFCE, but to each his own. I remember there being the thread about just this problem. I agree that if the user likes XFCE then there should not be anything prohibiting its installation.
