Adding program at startup (SOLVED)
« on: April 15, 2014, 03:04:54 am »
hello,
how can I add a program to start automatic when I turn the computer on?
I use ubuntu one to synchronize two computers but unfortunaly this service will be stopped soon, so I need another "synchronizer" (Wuala seem to be a good alternative) and I want to do this completely automatic like with ubuntu one. One computer runs Linux Mint, there you can easily add a programm to startup automaticly, with peppermint 3 I don't know how to do that.
Thanks for some good advice

Can you give an example of a program you'd like to autostart, and we'll talk you through it :)

OK .. run:
Code: [Select]
pcmanfm /usr/share/applications
is there a Wuala icon in there ?

If so, right click it, and select "Copy"

Now navigate into your home folder and click Ctrl+H to display hidden files and directories.

look for a folder called .config .. and enter it.

look for a folder called autostart .. and enter it.  (if the autostart directory doesn't already exist there, create it)

Now paste the launcher you copied earlier into there.

Log off/on to test.

Any .desktop launchers you copy into
~/.config/autostart
should be autostarted when you log in ;)
