Dell AD1885 Integrated Audio Sounds Bad
« on: April 02, 2014, 03:03:52 pm »
I'm not sure if this is just the pc being old or something is missing. Dell Opitplex 150, with AD1885 Integrated Audio. The sound quality is horrible, I even swapped out computer speakers from another pc where the sound is good.  I'm using Exaile and it's mixer.

I had the pc laying in a box and figured it would make a good "jukebox" for my workout area and dump the "boombox" and CD's. But the sound quality is driving me nuts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked if pulseaudio makes a difference ?

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio pulseaudio-utils pavucontrol
then if necessary, log off/on (or reboot)

did that help ?

You should also now have a new menu item at
menu > Sound & Video > PulseAudio Volume Control
you might want to look around in there.

You could try these suggestions, not used them myself, just stumbled across them.
