Hi there.
I'm new into this.... and, just installed PM5 and I have the exact same problem mentioned in the 1st post.
I have a SONY VAIO VPCW21S1E, which is a Netbook (Atom based).
I don't think there's any upgrade of BIOS for this model.
Can anyone help me/us?
Thank you in advance.

Hi AndyInMokum,
Thanks for the welcome compliment.
I'm sorry about the mess but I though it was the same issue.

How come the OS is not receiving the "Fn" + "bright" command and receives all the other "Fn" commands?
And this issue is not alone!
In parallel to it, and related to it, the power control doesn't dim the light, saving power.
As bondbelgium posted, in PM4 this was working fine!
What went wrong or changed to PM5?
The power tuning was the thing that attracted me most to this distro of Linux and now I don't have it!

Hi dreis911, well done there,  I did this myself a few months ago.  However for the life of me, I couldn't remember how I did it.  I've been scouring my memory and the internet since your last post to get you this very solution.  Again well done for finding it  ;).  It doesn't do anything for the Fn + Screen Brighness key issue on my system though.  I gave up on that one and installed a Brightness Controller: How To Install Brightness Controller GUI.  This works really well.  You can adjust the colour temperature with it too.  If you are satisfied that your issue is resolved, could you please remember to mark the topic as [SOLVED] in the subject line of your first post - many thanks  ;).

Hi AndyInMokum.
Thanks again for your support and compliment.

I would mark it as [SOLVED] if there was any button or link, but I can't see any of those.
Is it because this one was not a start of a thread but a reply to another thread?
Can you help me?
TIA
