You can safely ignore "warnings" thrown up in the terminal by gedit .. but if *want* to get rid of at least the:-

Could not load Gedit repository: Typelib file for namespace 'GtkSource', version '3.0' not found

warning, just run this command to install gir1.2-gtksource-3.0:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install gir1.2-gtksource-3.0
WARNING: You are logged into reality as 'root' .. logging in as 'insane' is the only safe option.

Thanks,

From the start of this particular string you asked me to enter:

andrew@Khelang ~ $ gedit /etc/hosts

the cursor just flashes underneath and doesn't show the username, is this normal?

and got this in gedit

127.0.0.1   localhost
127.0.1.1   khelang

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1     ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters

then this command:

andrew@Khelang ~ $ gedit /etc/hostname[/b]

with this gedit response:

Khelang

Fantastic,

I did the 'reactivate Google updates', got a software update, which duly included the Google update - Reboot and now updated Google and no more Aw Snap on Youtube.

Very Big Thank You to AndyInMokum and PCNetSpec for your all your help and patience :)
