No Bluetooth SOLVED-ish
« on: January 26, 2015, 05:01:40 pm »
Peppermint 5 installed on an ASUS 1015PEM and all is working well, including WI-FI but not bluetooth. This machine has a 3.0 capable radio, but unsure what the make/model is (just going by the stickers on it and the manufacturer website.)

The truly odd part is Bluetooth Manager doesn't even open when selected, even after uninstalling and reinstalling it several times via the software manager.

I would like to pair it with headphones/mics and possibly a full sized keyboard that I already have (bluetooth) and possibly tether with my android phone, but if I can't even see the radio, that presents a problem. ;)

Ideas where to begin to run it down?

If you open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
hcitool dev
is anything returned in the terminal ?

and what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
rfkill list
and what happens if you run:
Code: [Select]
sudo killall blueman-manager
then
Code: [Select]
blueman-manager

Try making sure pulseaudio-module-bluetooth is installed:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
then try starting blueman again:
Code: [Select]
blueman-manager
do you still get the same errors ?

Although by the looks of things your bluetooth adapter isn't being discovered.

Does running:
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/bluetooth
then rebooting

then
Code: [Select]
blueman-manager
make any difference ?

Are you 100% sure bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS ?

nope. It's not showing bluetooth in the BIOS either. There is an update..quite a few actually..to the BIOS from Asus..but joy of joys..they are all DOS oriented.

addressed with a new BT dongle, which finally did allow BT manager to open and pair with a couple of devices..a smartphone and a headset...now we just get to wonder why those devices don't behave as expected..but that's for another thread if I can't find answers elsewhere.

Still no idea why it won't recognize the internal radio.
