copy and paste shortcuts never worked? Solved
« on: December 02, 2014, 01:18:02 am »
never thought to ask this until now, but the control C , control V copy and paste shortcuts never worked in peppermint 5  i have to act like my 60 year old dad
and do the right click 'copy' right click 'paste' old timer thing, as someone who came from mac the quick smooth shortcut is something i'd really like to have.
any reason why this doesn't work? i was able to assign control C to open catfish and control V to open vlc but is there a way to assign them to copy and paste commands?

How very strange, they have always worked perfectly for me.  This is the first time I heard of anyone having a problem with these keystrokes.  I'm sure someone will have a quick solution for this irritation  ;).

That is strange, indeed. I suspect that you might have been changing some settings on your system and accidentally wiped out the normal Copy/Paste keyboard short-cuts ...  :-X

Good luck in your search to restore them.

its possible but since installation from the very beginning they didn't work and being new to linux at the time i just thought 'oh well i guess linux doesn't have the same shortcut commands' than i looked it up and found thats not the case so no idea.

Are you talking about "in a terminal" ?

in a terminal you have to add the shift key

Ctrl+Shift+C = Copy

Ctrl+Shift+V = Paste

Reason - Ctrl+C is assigned to "stop a running command"

no just talking about normal cut and paste like on websites or for for instance when im doing html programming cut and paste shortcuts come in handy.
for terminal i dont mind that much as i don't use it as much as other daily activities.

still have not found a solution for this. what are the commands to enter to set a copy and paste shortcut my system has none it works only if you right click on a website and go to copy
and paste this feels like some windows 95 stuff. I want to be able to do control C control V to copy paste but it does not work.
