Did they just promote the site as "unbiased" and "a level playing field for all distros" then immediately say that "for a fee" you can have a "premium listing" where we'll do a youtube video giving better promotional coverage and back-link it to your listing where it'll be embedded giving you a better listing ?

And am I right in thinking this "unbiased" listing site is run by the "Cup of Linux" people who do their own Manjaro based distro ?

Call me a cynic, but as an analogy I don't think I'd be able to trust Mark Shuttleworth to do an unbiased distro listing/promotion site where money also changes hand for different levels of promotion ;)
(in fact I'd be more likely to see it as a commercially minded  power play)

And what does "MOSTLY non-profit" mean ? .. you're either a non-profit or you're a for-profit commercial entity :-\

Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against the site 'per se', and there's nothing wrong with attempting to make money from doing promotional videos .. but then don't try dress it up as "unbiased" and "a level playing field" .. the second money changes hands and/or you offer different levels of service you're biased.

Well said Mark.  These guys sound more like "snake oil" salesmen the way they are promoting themselves.
