[SOLVED] Fine tuning hp pavillion dv2000 fan [SOLVED]
« on: November 23, 2014, 07:20:21 pm »
Hi guys,

What program would you recommend to fine-tune the hp pavillion dv2000 fan. If I recall correctly, Jupiter applet can control tge fans but I haven't used it in a while. There is also i8kutils but that is specifically for Dell. I read somewhere one utility called "Simple ThinkPad Fan control" which allows you to fine tune tge temperatures that change the fan's speed. Nevertheless, I believe this utility works on Thinkpads. Any suggestions are welcome. And of course, I plan to visit BestBuy and purchase a good thermal gel/paste.

I don't think Jupiter managed the fans, it was a power manager .. anyway Jupiter is no more, it was replaced by TLP which definitely doesn't control fans

The other two are for specific hardware, so won't work on your HP

You may want to look at "lm-sensors" and "fancontrol" .. see the answer with the green tick here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/22108/how-to-control-fan-speed

But what makes you think it's necessary in the first place ?

What makes you think the CPU temps are too high ?
