Hi willowdancer

Can you be more specific what the error message says ?

If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs then you're not quite grasping the situation

It does not give an error it says:

GNU GRUB version 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1

Minimal Bash-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

grub> _

Though I was going to do some shady stuff. Nothing to big; no money involved. Just spoofing the mac address; for the wifi, at the hotel I live in. So it very well could just be the universe saying, "HELL NO" or "YOUR KUNG FU DENIED".  :P

OK, can you confirm if Peppermint is on a whole drive, and if it's an iternal or external hard drive ?

Can you also boot to the LiveUSB (and with all hdd's attached) post the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo fdisk -l
I'm also hoping you didn't opt for full disk encryption ?

If Peppermint is to be the only OS on the internal HDD I suggest you format the drive by swapping from  GTP  to an msdos style partition table.

BE AWARE - The following will COMPLETELY erase the hard drive

Boot to the LiveUSB

Fire up GPArted (menu > System Tools > GParted)

In GParted, make sure you're operating on the internal HDD .. then select

Device > Create partition Table

then choose an msdos partition table.

If it says it cannot continue due to partitions being mounted .. clcik the swap partition and select "swapoff", then try again.

Once you've created the msdos partition table .. try installing Peppermint 5 again.
